St Stephen Protomartyr Catholic School is seeking a Substitute teacher. The Substitute Teacher serves as a temporary instructor in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This individual is responsible for maintaining a safe, respectful, and faith-centered learning environment while following the established lesson plans and school policies. The Substitute Teacher supports the mission and philosophy of the Catholic school by integrating Gospel values into the educational experience.
Provide instruction according to lesson plans prepared by the regular classroom teacher.
Maintain classroom order and discipline consistent with school policies and Catholic values.
Foster a positive and respectful learning environment that reflects the Catholic identity and mission of the school.
Supervise students in the classroom, during transitions, and at other assigned times (e.g., recess, lunch, assemblies).
Ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators.
Leave notes and feedback for the regular teacher summarizing the day’s activities and any issues that arose.
Model Christian values and professionalism in behavior, attitude, and communication.
Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Education or related field preferred.
Valid teaching certificate/license preferred (state certification or diocesan substitute permit).
Experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
Understanding of and commitment to the mission of Catholic education.
Ability to adapt to various classroom environments and grade levels.
Strong communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
