About the Role
Kids Academy CORE Foundation, Inc. is seeking an experienced
Assistant Director to support the daily operations of our
licensed childcare and early learning center in North Chesterfield, Virginia. This leadership role supports the
Center Director , ensures
VDOE Child Day Center licensing compliance , and helps oversee staffing, classrooms, family engagement, and program quality.
This position is ideal for candidates with experience in
childcare administration ,
early childhood education , or
daycare leadership who are looking to grow into senior leadership.
The candidate will need to have CACFP Experience is a must. Duties Key Responsibilities
- Support daily operations of a licensed childcare center , including staffing, ratios, and classroom coverage
- Maintain Virginia Department of Education (VDOE)licensing compliance and documentation
- Assist with staff supervision , coaching, training, and performance support
- Support early childhood curriculum implementation and classroom quality
- Assist with enrollment management , attendance, scheduling, and family records
- Serve as a point of contact for families and staff; escalate issues as needed
- Support conflict resolution and professional communication
- Assume delegated Center Director responsibilities during absences
Requirements Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet
VDOE Child Day Center (8VAC20-780)requirements and meet
one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education , Child Development , or a related field
- Associate degree in a child-related field with required experience
- High school diploma or GED with required supervised programmatic experience
- Child Development Associate (CDA)credential
Additional Requirements: - Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to pass all required Virginia background checks
- CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Completion of required preservice and annual childcare training
- Working knowledge of Virginia childcare licensing regulations
- Prior lead teacher , assistant director , or childcare supervisor experience preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and supervise children for extended periods
- Manual dexterity for classroom and emergency response activities
- Visual and auditory acuity for child supervision and safety
Health and Safety Requirements
- Negative TB screening as required by Virginia licensing regulations
- Maintenance of required health clearances throughout employment
- Completion of Daily Health Observation (DHO)training
- Completion of Emergency Preparedness and Response training
- Compliance with communicable disease reporting and exclusion requirements
- Ongoing compliance with all childcare health, safety, and sanitation standards
